PDT  Introduction

Wireless trunking communication system is the uppermost communication means for professional users to command and dispatch, including public security, which is also an essential communication equipment for emergency communication of government departments. At present, only police is equipped with more than 6,000 more base stations, 16,000 channels, more than 1million mobile stations. Now, the trunking system is at a critical time of transformation from simulation to digital systems.

At present, China has four existing digital trunking standards: European Tetra , Iden of United States, and GOTA and GT800 of ZTE and Huawei of China. The domestic two standards are improved based on the public network, which fail to meet the needs of professional users in aspects such as access network time and removal of network direct connection. The Iden of United States is also coming from improvement of public network, the same problems exist. Only the Tetra can meet the needs of professional users, including police. But the Tetra also has some problems of small coverage area, networking cost is high, the devices of manufacturers cannot be interconnected, it is difficult to be compatible with simulation system and some issues exist, such as foreign intellectual property barriers. Therefore, China’s public security industry urgently needs a new digital trunking standard with independent intellectual property rights and suitable to digital transformation for domestic public safety simulation system.

 In view of the foregoing, the domestic MPT simulation trunking systems providing enterprises and research units which have the ability of development organized by Science & Technology Information Technology Bureau under Ministry of Public Security, after two years of effort, made reference to the digital trunking standard of Europe and the United States, formulated a standard of Professional Digital Trunking documentary with China's independent intellectual property rights, PDT standard for short.

The PDT standard is a new digital trunking system, on the basis of China's national conditions, injecting China’s manufacturer independent innovation factors. The PDT standard is characterized by large coverage area, domestic cryptographic algorithms for encryption and decryption, manufacturer system interconnection and interflow, downward compatible simulation system and simple technology and low cost. The PDT standard shall be based upon the demand of public security and police, and shall be gradually expanded to other industries, and shall strive to become one of the digital trunking standard of the global mainstream.

In order to be able to occupy the decisive occasion in the wireless trunking communication field in future, to build the independent digital trunking communication system really belonging to China , on November 26, 2010, initiated by Science & Technology Information Technology Bureau under Ministry of Public Security of China, Hytera Communication Company Limited, and Neolink Communications Technology(Hangzhou) Limited, and Beijing Sonicom Network System Limited etc more than 10 enterprises in Beijing, they voluntarily joint-launched to establish the PDT Industrial Alliance , taking development of China independent intellectual property, promotion of PDT digital trunking internationalization process as target, to inject new blood for development of China wireless trunking communication, the PDT ssociation is its abbreviation, the English name is “Professional Digital Trunking System Industry Association”, referred to as PDT.

The PDT Association shall commit to the development of police digital trunk industry with China's independent intellectual property rights, in conformity with national industrial policy, protecting intellectual property rights of the Association and its members, upgrading the research, development, manufacturing, integration, service and network operation level of the Alliance members, which shall promote the industrial informatization, industrialization and internationalization based upon the police digital trunking technology.
